In 2020, JM received a Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). JM was awarded this honor for designing, developing and commercializing Alpha Binder, a novel formaldehyde-free, bio-based binder for fiberglass reinforcement applications mainly used in the carpet industry. The award was announced during the June 16 American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Conference, which was held online last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The research and development and pilot trials for Alpha Binder were done at JMTC. Production trials and commercialization of the final product was conducted at our Engineered Products plants in Etowah, Tennessee, and Waterville, Ohio.

Held environmental seminars: Open Space Wild Life encounters by the Ken Caryl park ranger; Sustainable Neighborhoods (Provided by City of Lakewood); and Glass Recycling (provided by Rocky Mountain Bottle Company and Recycle Colorado).
Earth Day activities include - plant a seed event, recycle goods donations for local pet shelter, donations for books for Little Free Library, home computer electronic recycling, shred-a-thon for employees home documents.
Sponsored a rest stop at Chick-fil-a for the Bike to Work day on June 27th for the local community.
Conducted a Chatfield State Park cleanup event at the gravel ponds.
