The Frito Lay manufacturing plant in Denver makes and distributes fun salty snacks such as Lay’s & Ruffles potato chips, Fritos corn chips, Tostitos & Doritos tortilla chips and Smartfood popcorn. From Seed to the Shelf, environmental stewardship has always been a part of Frito-Lay’s business model since the company first started recycling cardboard back in the 1930’s. Denver’s Frito-Lay plant drives environmental stewardship with a focus on reducing energy, fuel, water and zero-landfill. The plant is a charter member of the Colorado Industrial Energy Challenge (CIEC) and partners with other industrial users in sharing best practices to reduce environmental impacts. Responsible Energy & Greenhouse Gas Reduction
100% LED lighting across the site and parking lots.
Partnered with supplier to build a public Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fill station near the facility.
35% of long haul fleet trucks run on CNG compressed natural gas.
The facility purchases 100% of its electric from renewable sources.
Waste Minimization & Diversion
Off spec food waste is used as cattle feed.
Divert landfill waste through recycling - over 1 million pounds.
Water Conservation & Quality
Design change of processes and installation of a discharge monitoring meter.

Employees collected and delivered a semi-truck of donations to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
