Children's Hospital Colorado is a private, non-profit pediatric healthcare network with 18 locations across the state. We are committed to providing the best possible care to kids at all ages and stages of growth.

It’s important to keep the earth healthy, too – and Children’s Hospital Colorado is dedicated to a sustainable future. Children are more sensitive to changes in the environment both because of their size and their developmental stages. Recognizing this, we try to reduce our impact on the local and global environment through conservation, recycling, alternative transportation, and buying local when available. We also commit to promoting the health of children and the community through socially responsible environmental improvements and cost-effective practices.

Responsible Energy & Greenhouse Gas Reduction

    • Increased the building's Energy Star Rating to 78.

Water Conservation & Quality

    • Reduced irrigation water consumption by 10%.

    • Replaced a 400t chiller with a more efficient model. Saved 616,208 ton-hours of chilled water.

    • Reduced water usage through the installation of new smart EvapoTranspiration Irrigation system that monitors micro-climate weather forecasts, time of day, soil moisture content, and vegetation water needs and adjusts the irrigation time by zone.

    • Eliminated the use of chemical floor cleaners at our Anschutz campus. Instead, we use ionized water as a cleaning agent.
