Responsible Energy & Greenhouse Gas Reduction

• • Air Compressor Replacement - Three (3) 75hp Quincy Air Compressor, two at fix speed and one on a variable frequency drive( VFD)

  • Replaced the existing air dryer, add new oil air and water separator. This new system will be able to supply the bakery with the air capacity required an any future expansion, while optimizing energy use from compressed air by 13%

  • LED Lighting - The bakery completely upgraded lighting across the facility from fluorescent and in some areas metal halide to 100% LED. A total kWh reduction of 771,527

  • BBU Wind Farm: As a whole BBU uses renewable wind energy to bake our breads. Our company has invested in a wind farm located in Santa Rita, TX, that generates enough electricity for all of our US bakeries, Sales Centers, Distribution Centers, Offices, and other operations. The wind farm is comprised of 40 wind mills that together produce 100 megawatts of energy. This energy does not go directly to our facilities, but rather it is the equivalent electricity to offset 100% of the energy we use with wind energy.

Waste Minimization & Diversion

• • Greater than 90% of our manufacturing waste is diverted from landfill and is sent to farms as animal feed.
