Dear CPW Volunteers,
We have exciting news. In May 2021, Governor Polis held a news conference to announce that Colorado has adopted new guidance for mask requirements, in light of updated guidance from the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC). Masks are no longer be mandated by the state for vaccinated Coloradans and are still suggested for unvaccinated Coloradans. Face coverings are still required in schools, prisons, hospitals, child care settings and other specific, controlled locations.
If you are fully vaccinated you don't need to wear a mask while volunteering with CPW, but it is recommended that if you are unvaccinated or more comfortable, you should continue to wear a mask during your volunteer service. It continues to be recommended to maintain social distancing when possible, wash your hands frequently, and stay home if you are sick. To learn more please see CDPHE FAQ’s here.
We are also suggesting that you keep a mask handy in case someone asks you to wear one. We want to be respectful of others during this transition.
Volunteer engagement was down 18% on average in 2020, which is highly impressive given the impacts of a global pandemic! Thank you for your continued service to the mission of conservation and recreation! We can't wait to connect more in 2021.
Sincerely,
Becky Mares
Statewide Volunteer Coordinator
