Kip Curphy has over 30-years experience in heavy construction and is an expert in contracting with CDOT, as well as, other local municipalities, special districts, and developers along Colorado's Front Range. The majority of his experience was as a Prime Contractor and CEO, responsible for upper-level hiring, layoffs, compensation packages, organizational structure, job descriptions, contracts, bonding, insurance acquisition, negotiations, dispute resolution, litigation, bid selection and assignment, and risk assessment.
Kip also managed systems of accountability for all estimators, project managers, supervisors, and directors to ensure that budgets, schedules, safety, and quality controls were on par. Throughout his career, Kip implemented strategies to provide his clients and contracting agencies a quality product on time, while staying within budget and maintaining safety for the public and his employees. The strategies he used to streamline processes for efficiency included:
Documentation and reporting of daily field operations
Acquisition and implementation of accounting and bookkeeping processes
A method for recording and auditing the actual project costs using cost codes to track and incorporate into the corporate bidding system
A system for monitoring equipment costs which that could further integrate into the bidding system
Kip is available for consulting through the Denver Metro SBDC, as well as by virtual appointment statewide.
