To prepare your quilt for longarming, please make sure that you are mindful of the following:
Your backing fabric should be a minimum of 8 inches longer and wider than the quilt top. For example, a quilt top of 70 x 70 will require a 78 x 78 backing. This is to ensure that the quilt can be properly put on the frame for quilting. Backings smaller than this will either be returned, or incur an additional charge for modification.
If your backing or quilt are directional, please place a safety pin or pin a note identifying the top edge. While we try to make sure we have quilts set on the machine correctly, this helps tremendously in making sure we have the proper alignment.
Please make sure to press your top and backing before sending it to be longarmed.
If you have a lot of seams around the edges of the pieced top, please consider using a long, basting stitch around the perimeter before sending it to be longarmed. This helps to make sure that there are no open edges when the quilt is being stitched.
We cannot guarantee that quilt backs or labels will be aligned during the quilting process. If you would like a label on your quilt, it is recommended that this is put on after the quilting process. We are happy to help with this for an additional fee.
Due to the nature of our handcrafted quilting process, slight variations are to be expected. All sales are final.
