Class Information
Bring a water bottle (water only) every day. Students will not be allowed to keep them ON the desks due to many spills in the past, but they will keep them in the water bottle holders attached to the desks. Please be sure water bottle fits in the holder and is not too big. Please avoid metal water bottles as they are super loud when they fall over. Also, no water bottles with straws please due to potential spills and classroom items being ruined.
Bring a healthy snack to eat every morning. Please avoid candy, chips, etc. Some healthy options include protein bar, fruit, veggies, pretzels, goldfish, and crackers. We are not an allergy classroom, so peanut products are allowed.
Celebrating birthdays in the class: We will not be able to accept visitors in 4th grade, but we will set aside 10-15 minutes to celebrate your child's birthday. Please contact me at least 1 week prior so I can prepare time in our schedule. Students are allowed to bring store-bought treats or small gifts if they'd like.
Use the Pick-Up-Patrol App (PUP) for ALL notes and updates. Notes/emails to the teacher will not be accepted, everything must be submitted through the app.

Fourth Grade Grading Procedures
Fourth grade students are expected to complete assigned work on time, follow directions, actively engage in classroom activities, participate in a range of collaborative discussions, be organized, be prepared for class, demonstrate self-control in all school settings, and demonstrate respect for adults and peers. Students will complete math exit tickets, writing assignments, and other academic tasks during class time. Students are responsible for preparing for and taking assessments in school. Teachers will use the “Standards Based Grading Rubric” when grading assignments and assessments.
Standards Based Grading Rubric
Proficiency Levels
Proficiency Levels Rubric Descriptions
4

The student is consistently proficient in demonstrating the skill/behavior.
3
Meets Expectations
The student is making satisfactory progress in demonstrating the skill/behavior.
2
Approaching Expectations
The student is making gradual progress in demonstrating the skill/behavior.

This rubric is also used when teachers are determining levels for report cards. A standards based report card will be issued three times per year, at the 13th, 26th, and 40 week mark. Parents are asked to review their child’s report card, sign the envelope, and return the envelope to school with their child after the first and second trimester. Parents can keep the envelope after the third trimester/at the end of the school year.
REGAN INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL’S ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
(ALSO FOUND ON P. 8 OF THE “REGAN INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL’S PARENT AND STUDENT HANDBOOK 2022-2023”)
STUDENT ATTENDANCE:
Regular attendance is very important for each student. However, if illness occurs, parents are asked to report the absence to the school, enter it into pick-up patrol (PUP) to let the school know. Add a reason for your child’s absence. Please know that you will receive an automated phone call from the district verifying your child’s absence. Said automated calls will also occur when their child has an unexcused absence. Vacations, sports competitions, and personal reasons that are not school sanctioned are considered unexcused absences. New York State Law mandates that students must have a signed excuse upon return to school. The excuse must include: child ́s full name, date(s) of absence, room number or teacher’s name, and reason for absence.
ATTENDANCE LETTERS:
Letters will be sent home notifying parents of the child’s attendance record. Letters are sent home when a student has accrued seven (7) absences, fourteen (14) absences, twenty-One (21) absences and twenty-eight (28) absences. Once multiple letters have been given, it may result in a parent conference, reporting to state officials or CPS of possible violation of the compulsory attendance law and/or educational neglect.
VACATIONS:
They are not considered an excused absence. Students will be asked to make up missed work upon their return. Reading and journaling while on vacation are encouraged.
TARDINESS AND APPTS:
If it becomes necessary to miss school for medical or dental appointments before/after regular start/dismissal time, put the reason and information in PUP. Students will be released only through the office. All students must be signed out by the parent or other authorized adult. Parents are encouraged to schedule appointments outside the school day when possible. Students will be called down from the classroom once the parent has arrived in the office to sign them out. Parents may accompany their child into the school. At this level, some students are mature enough to go on their own, while some still need parent support. Either way, it must be entered into Pick Up Patrol with the reason and time. Tardy is considered anything past 8:55AM, when the school day begins.
