Take Home Folder - I have provided a take home folder for your child. A monthly calendar will be placed in the back plastic sleeve. This folder needs to come to and from school each day in your child’s backpack. Please empty this folder daily.
Water Bottles - They are a MUST this year. Students will not be permitted to use the drinking fountain in the classroom so sending a full water bottle daily with your child is necessary. Water only please, no juice or other drinks. Please make sure the bottle does not leak.
Homework - Please encourage only “quality” work, using a pencil only, stressing to “always do your best”. I expect parents to help their children with their homework, but please do not do it for them. At first, homework may be more difficult, but the purpose is mainly for reinforcing and practicing skills. The children will become more and more efficient as the year progresses. I do not assign homework every day.
Seesaw App - This year we will be using the Seesaw App to communicate with families. I use this as my main communication with parents. Seesaw sign up is mandatory and information will follow.
Classroom Snack – We will be having a classroom snack each day, which you will need to send in on a daily basis for your child. Please plan on sending in a nutritious snack only. Pretzels, crackers, or fruit/vegetables are some good choices! Cookies, chips and other items high in sugar will NOT be permitted, as they do not allow your child to learn to the best of his/her ability. Packing your child’s snack separately in his/her backpack is a good idea.
Bingo Behavior - My goal is to create a safe environment where all children can excel academically, socially and emotionally. Therefore, behavior will be dealt with & modified in 3 ways: whole class, individually & school wide (PBIS: Positive Behavioral Interventions Support). Our classroom behavior system will follow the structure of the game BINGO. Children will be recognized for their positive behavior by placing his/her name on an empty space on the BINGO board. Once the BINGO board is full, a chip will be pulled. The chip pulled will receive a small, special reward. Individual behavior plans will be implemented on an as needed basis. Finally, our school has a PBIS system that recognizes students by rewarding them with a Golden Ticket.
Outdoor play -Playground/Outside - Weather permitting we will be visiting the playground or going outside daily . Sneakers are a MUST in order for your child to be able to play. Sneakers need to have both a covered toe and heel to prevent your child from getting hurt. Slip ons, Crocs, clogs, sandals and dress shoes will not be permitted. Wearing sneakers to school daily is the best plan, so the kids do not need to bring sneakers back and forth to school each day.
Birthdays – As per school policy, food treats MUST be prepackaged. Non edible treats or a book for the class library can be sent in instead, if you wish. Please contact me at least 3 days prior to your child’s birthday so that we may choose an appropriate day to celebrate this special occasion. If you wish to send in party invitations through school I will only pass them out if either all the girls are invited if your child is a girl, all the boys if your child is a boy, or the entire class. This will help to keep hurt feelings to a minimum. If you plan on inviting only several classmates please plan on mailing the invitations.
Book Orders – A scholastic flyer will be sent home monthly. If you wish to place an order, please send in checks only, made payable to Scholastic or you may order online as well. A reminder of the due date will also be located in your child’s monthly calendar inside their “Take Home” folder.
Chromebooks - Your child will have a chromebook available for them to use at school. They will not be sent home.
Parent Volunteers – There will be different times throughout the school year that we will need parent volunteers. I will keep you updated when the time comes. If you would like to come in and celebrate your child’s birthday, you are more than welcome.
Specials – We have specials daily! Please make sure that your child comes prepared for that day’s special. i.e. Sneakers for Gym & Fitness Lab
Monday Physical Education
Tuesday Fitness Lab
Wednesday Art & Library Tech
Thursday Physical Education
Friday Music
Lunch- All lunch money will need to be put on your child’s account this year using School Bucks, they will not be accepting cash/checks in person. If you want your child to be able to purchase a snack or ice cream, you must send in a note. Please discuss this with your child.
Important Facts to Remember:
Please be sure that your child brings a backpack to school everyday. The bag should be full sized and large enough to accommodate papers, folders, and their lunchbox. No rolling backpacks please.
NOTES: As per district policy all absence and pick up notes will go through the Pick Up Patrol app.
**All plan changes MUST be entered into PickUp Patrol
NO handwritten notes will be accepted this year.
If you have any questions contact Fricano Primary at 210-2103. **
Everything sent to school should be labeled with your child’s first and last name.
Students are not permitted to bring toys or electronics to school.
Please notify me and the school nurse immediately if your child has any health concerns or allergies.
I am excited for a great school year! If you have any questions or concerns about anything, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
Ms. Kate Krawczyk
