ATTENDANCE LETTERS:
Letters will be sent home notifying parents of the child’s attendance record. Letters are sent home when a student has accrued seven (7) absences, fourteen (14) absences, twenty-One (21) absences and twenty-eight (28) absences. Once multiple letters have been given, it may result in a parent conference, reporting to state officials or CPS of possible violation of the compulsory attendance law and/or educational neglect.
VACATIONS:
They are not considered an excused absence. Students will be asked to make up missed work upon their return. Reading and journaling while on vacation are encouraged.
TARDINESS AND APPTS:
If it becomes necessary to miss school for medical or dental appointments before/after regular start/dismissal time, put the reason and information in PUP. Students will be released only through the office. All students must be signed out by the parent or other authorized adult. Parents are encouraged to schedule appointments outside the school day when possible. Students will be called down from the classroom once the parent has arrived in the office to sign them out. Parents may accompany their child into the school. At this level, some students are mature enough to go on their own, while some still need parent support. Either way, it must be entered into Pick Up Patrol with the reason and time. Tardy is considered anything past 8:55AM, when the school day begins.
