Through the study of English Language, you will be able to confidently:
communicate clearly, accurately and effectively when speaking and writing
use a wide range of vocabulary, and the correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
both write and speak in a personal style with an awareness of the audience being addressed.
You will be assessed through three components.
One examination that is 2 hours long in total. This paper is worth 50% of the qualification and will test your reading skills. There will be structured and extended writing questions which will be based on three reading texts.
Coursework portfolio. This will consist of three extended writing assignments (non-fiction, describe, narrate). This coursework is worth 50% of the qualification and will test your writing skills.
Speaking and Listening Test. This is separately assessed and will include an individual talk and conversation.
