Everything you need to know about RESEARCH!
Research can feel like a fun treasure hunt if you get started on the right foot and stay focused on your topic.
Three of the most important things to remember while researching are:
Keep track of your sources while you are collecting information. I recommend using MyBib.
Put the information you are using into your own words and in a way that sounds natural to you; this will help you avoid plagiarism.
Evaluate your sources to ensure your information is accurate. Consider using databases that contain trusted.
MyBib This is one of my favorites. So easy to use! Click below to see the tutorial.
When you create work that references the previous works of others, it is important to provide attribution, giving credit and establishing credibility for your claims. When attributing sources using MLA style, there are two components:
Works Cited Page - A list at the end of your paper with all of the of information sources you have referenced.
In-Text Citations - Notations within the body of your paper that map specific quotes and details with source references from your Works Cited page.
See video below for more information on citing sources in MLA format:
Automated generators such as the MyBib web tool and Chrome Extension or EasyBib Add-On may help you generate citations. Use MyBib in Google docs. Learn more in the video below!
"A copyright is a law that gives the owner of a written document, musical composition, book, picture, or other creative work, the right to decide what other people can do with it. Copyright laws make it easier for authors to make money by selling their works. Because of copyright, a work can only be copied if the owner of the copyright gives permission" (Copyright Facts for Kids, 2021).
Below are several videos that explain copyright in more detail:
