The electrical system of the NEDMO is split into 2 portions: the NAVCON, which is responsible for receiving driving control signals, and the FUELCON, which is responsible for receiving fueling controls and displaying the fuel status.
The FUELCON carries out a variety of functions. It receives the fuel status via radio from the 0TILUS, and it interprets refueling effort (encoder pulses) from the FUELCON and transmits it via radio to the 0TILUS. Besides refueling functions, it also uses a slider potentiometer to read the intended pairing destination, for pairing functions.
The electronics on the NAVCON are all passive, all the raw signals of NAVCON (joystick potentiometer voltage, button voltages) are transmitted directly to the NAVCON via a tether bundle.
The electronics on the 0ILUS are simpler in comparison to the NEDMO, featuring an XBEE transceiver and several motors and servo for the functioning of the boat.
