In this session, attendees will review Rita Pierson’s Every Kid Needs a Champion and discuss main takeaways from the video. We will do a thinking exercise reflecting on how we show up in the classroom, both in person and digitally, as our authentic selves. We will address how our own identities impact our experience as educators and how our students' identities impact their experience. We will also explore vulnerability in the classroom, including why it is important and how modeling vulnerability helps students practice social emotional learning.
