⚠️ IMPORTANT DOs and DON'Ts of taking photospheres
Don't have any images? Use the ThingLink Library to build your tour!
Here, you can click the main area to pick a file from your hard drive or use a number of third-party integrations:
'Google Drive' allows you to upload compatible images or videos from your Google Drive cloud storage;
'OneDrive' allows you to upload files from Microsoft OneDrive;
'Design with Canva' allows you to create a design from scratch using Canva. If you already have a Canva account, you'll be able to pick one of your existing designs. Learn more about the integration here.
'Unsplash' allows you to search a database of plain photos and images;
Once you've selected the files you'd like to upload, they'll begin uploading to ThingLink. Click the 'Continue' button once all files are uploaded and you'll see them in your dashboard.
Click on one of your photos, and then click the blue 'Edit' button.
Next, click the 'Add tag' button.
Choose the type of Tag you'd like to add.
This tag, when clicked, takes the viewer away from the current image, and on to the page of another ThingLink image, video, or 360 image. Use this tag to move from one creation to another.
The tag icon will change to a small thumbnail of the destination scene when the viewer hovers over it. In addition to that, you can add a short (30 characters) description text to let the viewer know where the tag leads.
Check out how this works below, and see this article to learn more about the preview icon update.
Once the viewer transition from the first scene in your tour, two buttons will be added to the top left corner:
'Back' button, which takes the viewer to the previous scene
'Home' button, which takes the viewer to the first scene in your tour
Make sure to include return tags so users don't get stuck in any locations!
This tag serves multiple purposes and adjusts the layout based on the content. I It allows you to combine text, images, videos, links and background audio. Explore the image below to get acquainted with its interface.
Text & media tag comes with 11 different layouts. You can change the layout by clicking the 'Change layout' button at the top. You can read more about layouts here. Most layouts are static, but the default layout will adapt depending on what content you add - see below.
Filling in ‘Description’ and/or ‘Title’ will create a tag with just text. The description text will be aligned to the center if there are less than 4 lines of text. If there are 4 or more lines of text, it will align to the left. This logic persists when adding other elements, such as links (buttons) and images.
After selecting a format, choose a tag icon by clicking ‘Change icon’, and then start filling the fields that you need. In the case of image and text tags, tag elements will not show if you leave the fields empty.
You can change a tag’s position by clicking and dragging it across the screen. After adding tags, use the Settings button to change the colors used in the tags. Either select from the pre-set color combinations or enter your own colors. This is also where you can find the option to remove the ThingLink logo from your image, add a background audio to the whole scene, and a few other options. See this article for more information on how you can customize your ThingLinks.
Please note that your publishing options depend on your account type (Education, Marketing & Editorial, or eLearning) and your subscription plan.
Open a scene you'd like to publish, then click the 'Share' button in the upper-right corner. This will open a new pop-up window with different sharing options described below:
ThingLink content can be set to one of 4 different visibility settings:
My Organization - available only to signed-in members of your organization on ThingLink
Public - available to everyone and can be found via web search engines. This setting is not available to students.
Unlisted - available to everyone who has a link
Private - available only to you and members of a private folder
To share any media, make sure that it's visibility setting is set to either 'Public' or 'Unlisted'. If you are sharing a ThingLink tour, make sure that all scenes within it are set to these settings.
