The electrical architecture of Ed's Composter allowed the team to maximize the use of the pins while accomplishing all of the tasks set at hand.Â
We decided to keep the design as elegant as possible to guarantee reliability and efficiency.Â
There are a total of 7 subsystems that are part of Ed's Composter each critical to the functionality of the project.
Composed of two DC motors and controlled by the in-house PWM library
Starts the Aeration process and the trivia game
Sensor responsible for the actuation of the tray that allows the compost to fall into the collector segment
Adafruit Soundboard that plays the sounds for the correct and incorrect answers
Trivia buttons responsible for the correct and incorrect answers during the game
The potentiometer is responsible for the PWM signal of the paddle motor
This was a nice-to-have addition to the rack and pinion subassemblyÂ
Responsible for the DOT matrix communication over SPI protocol
