Human and Nature
Hongsun Yoon, Paige Plater, and Yiyi Gu
This project explores humanity's evolving relationship with nature, examining how we experience the natural world today and envisioning how that connection might transform in the future. Through thoughtful investigation, it asks fundamental questions about our place in the environment and what changes lie ahead in how we perceive, interact with, and understand the natural world around us.
Japanese Tea Ceremony
Isabella Garza, Josephine Kim, and Maika Jones
In Artificial Imperfection, AI attempts to interpret and recreate the aesthetic principles and spiritual elements of traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Through AI-generated architecture and traditional tea ceremony elements, this exhibition explores how artificial intelligence both challenges and enriches our understanding of longstanding Japanese traditions.
This project asks:
What is authenticity in cultural practices?
Can technology re-imagine traditions?
Where do humans and the machine meet in the ceremony of tea?
Spirits, Monsters, Gods, Immortals, and Demons (Mythical Creatures) in Classic of Mountains and Seas
Tianyi Jiang (Angelina)
This project examines the intersection of artificial intelligence and cultural understanding, with a specific focus on Chinese mythology as a case study. It investigates both current limitations and future possibilities for AI systems to meaningfully engage with and understand diverse cultural contexts, particularly Eastern cultural elements.
AI Meets 3D Modeling
Rush Bogin
This project utilized AI in creating a reference image for a 3D model inspired by multiple East Asian buildings. The prompt given to ChatGPT was "Can you create a traditional East Asian building drawing inspiration from Byodo In, Foguang Temple and Pagoda of Fogong Temple?" AI produced the blueprints, which were followed during the 3D modeling process to the exact measurements.
