If you have not already, be sure to check your passport to make sure it is valid for 6 months after your return date to the U.S. and that it has at least 1 completely blank visa page (not including the amendment pages at the back of the passport). Get necessary immunizations and prophylaxes (refer to the health and medical section in the destination details page of this microsite).
We ask you to be mindful of your activities in the time leading up to your trip and to do your best to join the trip healthy. We want a safe and enjoyable trip for all, and we appreciate your help in making this effort.
As a reminder, there is an inherent risk of becoming ill when traveling with a group. Covid-19 vaccination is not required but is strongly encouraged for all participants. Travelers who exhibit cold or flu-like symptoms, including those who test positive for Covid-19, will not be required to isolate from the group and will be subject only to local health protocols. However, they will be asked to wear a mask and advised to practice social distancing/isolate if their symptoms are particularly severe. If another guest exhibits symptoms of upper respiratory illness, you may opt to wear a mask or distance yourself as needed.
Review the destination details and the gulet information pages for additional details about the trip in Turkey.
U.S. citizens traveling abroad may wish to enroll with the U.S. State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals to enroll their trip abroad so the Department of State can accurately and quickly contact them in case of emergency. You can find out more on the State Department website.
Notify your credit card company that you will soon be traveling, so that any significant charges you make will not be questioned or put on hold.
Packing reminders
The following packing suggestions should help you prepare for the program. These are simply our suggestions; you will want to make your own variations.
On this program, we ask that you limit your luggage to 1 suitcase (soft-sided is preferred, see note below) not to exceed 44 pounds and 1 carry-on piece not to exceed 17 pounds (in addition to a purse or handbag), which must fit under your seat or in the overhead luggage compartment. These restrictions are set by the domestic flight carriers within Turkey and suggested due to storage on the gulets. During our stay on the gulets, there is very little storage in cabins, and there is no storage for baggage outside of cabins. We highly recommend packing in a soft-sided collapsible duffel with wheels or something that can be emptied and made flat as your 1 piece of checked luggage to facilitate easier storage in your cabin. This is just a recommendation and is not required.
