Stanford Purpose Summit

Welcome to the inaugural Stanford Purpose Summit: Pathways to Purpose sponsored by Stanford Career Education. This half-day, invitation-only gathering is designed to center “purpose” as a meaningful concept in your work –  and our collective work – in support of student development.

We describe purpose as the ongoing drive to contribute and to make a difference in the world. In our interactions with students, purpose emerges in how students express themselves, tell their stories, understand their values, articulate and evolve their career ambitions and life aspirations.

The program will feature reflective exercises and interactive discussions with fellow practitioners from across campus. By the end of the Summit, we hope you will:

1. Recognize how purpose-based work advances Stanford’s mission

2. Understand why purpose matters to student growth and development

3. Apply practices that advance purpose to strengthening work with students and alumni

4. Connect to Stanford’s developing community of purpose-based colleagues
