The game is a head-to-head competition between two SQRLs to move ACORNs into the opposing side's YARD. ACORNs will be stored in the "TREEs", the black tube installed on the to sides of the YARD. There are different regions in the YARD that have different scores. The goal is to shoot the ACORNs to the opponent's high score regions.
BeAxCON is designed to find IR beacons, store the ACORNs from the TREEs and shoot them to opponent's field. The chassis has two motor-driven wheels and two bullseye wheel, allowing the SQRL to move forwards, backwards, and rotate.
When the game starts, BeAxCON rotates 360 degrees and, with the help of the encoders, records the angle positions of each TREE. Then the SQRL rotates to face toward the far right TREE and move forward until the tape sensor on the right side sense the tape. BeAxCON will align itself to the black tape and turn 90 degrees to the right, following the tape to the right TREE. Before following the tape, the SQRL will first shoot the ACORN it has stored from the beginning of the game.
Once BeAxCON reaches the tree, it will start collecting and storing the ACORNs in the TREE. After all five ACORNs have been collected, BeAxCON will move backward and rotate to aim at the 4 point regions. Once aimed, it will start shooting the five ACORNs it stored.
BeAxCON will then rotate untill the left center tape sensor senses the tape. When the left center tape sensor senses white again, the SQRL will start tape following until it reaches the left TREE. Following the similar process, BeAxCON will collect, store, aim, and shoot all the ACORNs to the opponents' field.
For the competition, we added a special strategy when moving to the left TREE. This strategy allows our robot to push the ACORNs in our field to the one-point region and to prevent the robot from getting stuck due to the unwanted ACORNs.
When reaching the center black tape, BeAxCON will rotate CCW to face its back to the fence. Then, it will move backward to push the ACORNs to the fence. Before hitting the fence, BeAxCON rotates CCW to move toward the left TREE again. Following the similar process, the robot will take two more rotation to eventually return to the tape following toward the left TREE.
