Our Tradition

St. Andrew’s is part of The Episcopal Church, a Christian denomination rooted in Scripture, tradition, and reason, with worship shaped by the prayers and liturgies of the Book of Common Prayer. The Episcopal Church is the United States’ member church of the Anglican Communion, a worldwide family of churches connected by shared history, worship, and mission. In Vermont, St. Andrew’s belongs to the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont, a community of congregations led by a bishop and committed to serving, worshiping, caring for creation, and fostering reconciliation across the state. Whether you are new to Christianity, visiting from another tradition, or returning to church, you are welcome to explore this living tradition with us.

A Warm Welcome

At St. Andrew's, we believe God loves everyone regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation. We believe in spreading the message of God’s extravagant welcome, especially to the excluded and alienated, the spiritually homeless, the questioning, and those who may feel there is no place for them in the church. We strive to build a community where diverse people join together to worship, grow, and thrive. Whoever you are and wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here.

What to Expect

Worship is held at 9 am on Sundays. The service lasts approximately one hour, including scripture reading, hymns, a sermon, prayer, and Holy Communion. We celebrate Communion on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month, and we welcome baptized Christians of ALL denominations to partake. Scripture, hymn lyrics, and prayers are shared in large font on two large screens on both sides of the altar. Instructions on the screen indicate when to stand, sit, and make the sign of the cross so we're all on the same page. As a guest, you are not expected to know our traditions. Please feel free to participate as fully as you feel comfortable. All our speakers use microphones to ensure everyone can hear clearly. We collect an offering during the service, but contributing to it is entirely optional. Those who wish can give online here.

If you can't attend worship in person, you can join us online via ZOOM by clicking the link in our calendar. When you join us online, please feel free to have your camera on or off as you see fit. For those who can't join us on Sundays, we upload videos of all our worship services to YouTube, where you can watch them anytime.

Please note that our services are streamed on Zoom, recorded, and shared on our YouTube channel. We take still photographs during our worship services, which are shared on our website and Facebook page.

Children and Families

Babies, children, and young people are especially welcome at St. Andrew's! At this time, we do not have a formal Sunday School, but we do have a dedicated children's room that is jam-packed with Christian toys, books, and games. We also have a changing table and comfortable nursing chairs available. Outside, you'll find a playground with swings and slides available for children of all ages under parental supervision. Youngsters are welcome to come and go from the children's room, to sit with their families, or to wander around as they see fit. We don't expect children to sit still or be quiet in church. Cries, noises, and wiggles mean our faith and church have a future! Consider sitting close to the front so that your little ones can see and hear all that is going on, and if you need to step away for a breather at any time, be sure to hurry back - we want you here! 

After Worship

After worship, everyone is invited to gather downstairs for Food and Fellowship. This is a time to get to know the members of our church family, chat, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and some light refreshments.

Wheelchair Accessibility

St. Andrew's is wheelchair accessible via the lower level of our building. Inside, we have a wheelchair lift to the Sanctuary. We use armless chairs, which can easily be moved aside or rearranged to make space for wheelchairs and other mobility devices. 

Dress Code

There is no dress code at St. Andrew's - wear whatever you feel comfortable in!

Parking

There is ample parking available in our parking lot and in the lot across the street.
