Thursday, Sept. 23 - On Monday, you will bring in your labeled jar or bottle with a good lid. It will have about an inch of water from any lake, pond, puddle or bayou in the area. Collect it this weekend and bring it to school Monday. Label it with your name AND what kind of body of natural water it came from.
Friday, Sept. 24- Students are collecting a one-inch water sample from the top of a natural, local body of water this weekend. Label the bottle with name and what kind of water source it was...puddle, bayou, pond, for instance . BRING IT TO SCHOOL MONDAY ( or Tuesday morning).
Monday, Sept. 27 - Did you turn in your water sample this morning? If not, bring it to school in the morning.
Tuesday, Sept 28 - Students have a microscope quiz Friday. They will identify the parts and the functions of the microscope.

Tuesday, October 12 - Students received their BIRD species today which will be the focus for a project due next WEDNESDAY.
Wednesday, October 13 - Students received directions for their bird species project. We are working on this project in class. The document that students are creating will be read to the class Wednesday of next week.
Thursday, October 14 - The bird picture can be printed and labeled to accompany the bird project due next Wednesday. Instructions for the BIRD PROJECT are posted to Google Classroom. I n class, students are creating data for a plant experiment and a decomposer experiment.
Friday, October 15 - The Presentation is not memorized but read from their typed report. Their printed bird photo will also be featured. The directions are posted to the science Google Classroom page. Students have hard copies of the directions in their green science folder.

Tuesday, Nov. 9 - Students defined Invasive species today to prepare for an in-class investigation on species that plague LA.

Wednesday, Nov. 10 - Students are working on an in-house invasive species reseach project and beginning an experiment to try to mimic an algae bloom.
Thursday, Nov. 11 - Students will present their invasive species findings tomorrow as we complete the research in class.
Friday, Nov. 12 - Today students began work with Contour Mapping of water depths.
Tuesday, Nov. 16 - Complete colouring your contour map of Lake Pontchartrain.

In class, students completed a BRUMATION vs HIBERNATION activity.
