All students in this course will be required to document, document, document! You should get used to writing down your ideas in your Visual Art Journal. Writing and drawing in the journal daily is a requirement.
You will be assigned a Google Drive folder that you are responsible for keeping up-to-date with photographs of your work, Google Docs, slideshows, etc. I will have access to this folder and will use it to grade your progress as well as help you compile all your work at the end of the DP Visual Arts program to submit to IB.
While all students will be working on the same timeline, as you dive further into the course, you will have the freedom to take your own path in terms of materials and inspiration. Critiques will be held every 2-3 weeks throughout the course. During a critique, process portfolio pages will be reviewed and exhibition works in progress will be displayed and discussed. Critiques allow students to earn credit throughout the course despite working in a wide range of media and subject matter.
I will work with you one-on-one every day in class and document our discussions about your work and progress. While most of your work isn't due to be submitted to IB until your senior year, the amount of work to be completed requires full participation through both years in the program in order to do your best and grow as an artist. Critiques and daily check-ins will help you to keep pace in the course.
