Pastoral Letter by Deacon Eric Sorensen

"May the blessings of Christ bring all of us to be one in Christ and Christ in all."

My spiritual journey of faith has been an awakening to the love that God has for each of his children, indiscriminately.  My 27 years of ministering to others has uncovered the sure delight Christ takes in one’s actions and words.  Every faith community, every outreach service, every act of love shows forth the varied, but brilliant presence of Christ in our lives.  St Andrew has shown this brilliance in my 10 years of service with you.

It is part of the excitement of my ongoing adventure of faith, the discovery of Christ’s delight in other faith communities.  One does not know where the Holy Spirit moves, but the Holy Spirit does lead us if we wish to follow.  Just as the Spirit led Rita and I from Detroit and confirmed our place at St Andrew, now the Holy Spirit is moving us again.

This departure has no reflection on the goodness of your hearts, as you have been overly kind and gracious to me.  And I feel the great sorrow that I have in moving, just as it was with my previous departures.  But I know that the love and joy that we shared does not end, but continues, as God’s love is without end.  And in God’s love your own journey of faith will open to so many new ways to serve in joy.

Beginning of July, Rita and I will be on a pilgrimage in the footsteps of St Paul.  We will keep you and all of St Andrew in our prayers, so that we all may continue to receive the blessings of being all in Christ and Christ in all.  In words of St Paul, I’m assured in saying, that “I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day Christ Jesus” returns. (Phil 1:6)

I love you all in the praise and glory of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Savior.

In beloved service, Deacon Eric Sorensen

Summer Projects Update

Within days of Saint Andrew School being out for the summer, the facilities improvement projects have begun at Saint Andrew! If you were driving by Addison and Paulina this past Wednesday, you would have noticed a gigantic oil tanker being removed from the ground. This tanker was a hazard filled with toxic chemicals that prevented us from during further work. It stored fuel that was burned to heat our boilers and keep the campus warm in the winter. This technology was used before the city had gas lines and needed vendors with gas trucks to regularly refuel it. What a relief to have it removed! Now onto the the next project!
