The Fourth Sunday of Ordinary Time

"Seek the LORD, all you humble of the earth, who have observed his law; seek justice, seek humility." Zephaniah 2:3

Pastoral Letter by Sarah Casavechia, School Principal

"This week gives me an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on what makes Saint Andrew School a special place. "

Dear Friends,

Today is the kick off to Catholic Schools Week. This week gives me an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on what makes Saint Andrew School a special place.

This is my 26th year in Catholic education. I have learned that education, specifically Catholic education, matters. I chose to teach in Catholic schools because I enjoy sharing my faith with my community. My husband and I have chosen Catholic education for our children because Catholic education goes beyond reading and math; it helps form the whole child. I see evidence everyday of how beneficial a Catholic education is.

The theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2023 is "Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.” Here at Saint Andrew School, we develop students of faith. Students are nurtured in faith, known by name, and are surrounded by caring teachers and staff who partner with families. Students learn to experience God’s grace in their daily lives through their relationships with friends, teachers, and family.

Academic excellence is well-known in Catholic education. We are proud of Saint Andrew School’s academic achievements and the impressive results of our students. Our students have consistently scored among the top 15% of the nation’s best, earning our school two National Blue Ribbons. Families take an active role in their children’s education. Even more importantly, our students learn good study habits and learn to balance them with extra-curricular activities, developing a well-rounded, whole child.

Finally, service is fundamental to Catholic education and at the core of Catholic teachings. Our students are learning how to be the hands of Christ through serving others. Students at Saint Andrew regularly volunteer and are involved in service projects that serve the greater good.

I feel privileged and proud to be part of the Saint Andrew community. Thank you for this incredible opportunity. Happy Catholic Schools Week!

Best,

Sarah Casavechia
