Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time
Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time
"Before man are life and death, good and evil, whichever he chooses shall be given him." Sirach 15:18
The parish office is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00am to 7:00pm, on Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
The oarish office will be closed on Monday, February 16 in commoration of President's Day.
Join us for Mass every weekend at the 4:00 pm (vigil) Mass on Saturday, or on Sunday at 9:00am, 11:00am, or 5:00pm.
As we begin the Lenten season this coming Ash Wednesday, we are invited by Holy Mother Church to take up spiritual practices which lead to a greater imitation of Our Lord which at the same time fosters a deeper encounter with Him. The four pillars of Lenten observance are Penance (i.e. giving something up for Lent), Fasting, Prayer and Almsgiving (generosity and charity towards those in need). These pillars guide our attitudes and disposition during these sacred 40 days in which we desire to encounter the Lord along the way as He journeys to Jerusalem, and ultimately to Calvary. Encounter Our Lord Jesus leads to conversion, purification from sin and openness to God’s grace. This sacred time unites us by the Holy Spirit with Christ’s 40 days in the desert, where He fasted and was tempted by the devil, thus consecrating for us the pattern of Christian discipleship—being conformed more and more to Him Who is the Way, the Life and the Truth.
The first instinct we should have in Lent is to seek the Lord. Desire to be before Our Lord Jesus Christ Who is so good to us. During the Season of Lent we will have extra opportunities to be with Our Lord. The first Friday in Lent will be our Parish Fish Fry, an opportunity as a community to enjoy fellowship together as everyone gives up meat for Lent on Fridays. The following Fridays there will be Stations of the Cross in the church at 6:30pm, followed by an hour of Eucharistic Adoration from 7pm to 8pm. I highly encourage you, if you have never been, to stick around for some of the time. It is not necessary to stay for the whole hour, but you might be surprised. Eucharistic Adoration is one of the greatest gifts that God has given to the Church, elongated time to be in the presence of Jesus Christ, hidden in the Eucharist. It has been for many, as it was for me, the very place where I heard Jesus call me to be His priest. Countless saints speak about the joy of being before God in the Eucharist.
Mark your calendars for 6pm on Friday March 13th for when the first time ever St. Andrew will host the Franciscans of the Eucharist for a Night of Mercy. This will be a time for Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, and street Evangelization. Join us and the Franciscans as we ask the Lord to bless our Parish and our Neighborhood with His abundant graces!

Part of our Lenten practice is through prayer, to sacrifice (fast) so that we have more in our abundance to give. Every year, the proceeds from our fasting are collected as a parish on Holy Thursday to give to a specific charity. This year, our Holy Thursday collection will go to the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels in Humboldt Park to be distributed to the material needs of those served by the Franciscans of the Eucharist. Please be mindful throughout Lent to prepare a sacrificial gift for this collection.
Our popular spirituality program for adults returns this Spring. REBOOT: Update Your Spirituality will be held on Thursday nights - meeting every week for 6 sessions starting Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 7:00pm. Please Make Your Gift to the 2026 Annual Catholic Appeal
Together we bring light
Many families in our parish should have received the Annual Catholic Appeal mailing from Cardinal Cupich. On behalf of those served by the ministries of the parishes and schools that receive funding from the Appeal, we thank you for your gifts. Please return your response as soon as possible. The Annual Catholic Appeal offers us an opportunity to join with others and affirm that “together we bring light.” In addition to providing for ministries and services throughout the archdiocese, the Appeal also funds services that are of great help here in our parish.
As we consider God’s many gifts to us, we should also reflect our gratitude by using and sharing those gifts. Your financial support for the work of our parish, our archdiocese, and the Church throughout the world is one way to express that gratitude. Please make a donation as you are able to the 2026 Annual Catholic Appeal.
All women of the parish are warmly invited to join our new Women’s Group, which meets every Wednesday at 9:45am in the Church following the school Mass. It’s a welcoming, multigenerational group where we share faith, prayer, and fellowship—babies and toddlers are always welcome!
