Grade 8

Weekly Homework Grade 8

Important Announcements:

Gym class on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Remember your gym clothes!

8th grade's last week:

The last week, the students will have normal classes on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, May 29th:

The school picnic is scheduled.  The middle school classes will participate in a friendly game of flag football, and then our picnic lunch will be served starting at 10:45 am.  Picnic lunch orders have closed, but any family or friends are welcome to bring a lunch and join the students on the playground to eat together.  After lunch, the students will break into teams for Field Day.  The students have received their assigned team color, and are encouraged to wear their color to school, following casual day guidelines.

On Thursday, May 30th:

The all-school liturgy at 8:15 am will be run by the 8th grade class.  There will be lots of pictures taken, so the students are asked to come to school dressed to impress!  They will have the opportunity to change into casual clothes after the Mass.  The reading will be proclaimed by Maya S., and petitions by Ethan B. and Deauri F.  Frankie F. and Cameron H. will be presenting the gifts, and Hallie H. will read a closing meditation prayer.  Byron B. and Deauri F. will be acting as greeters/ushers before Mass.  All family members/friends of the graduates are welcome to join us for mass!

After the Mass (and pictures), there will be a brief snack provided in Miss Bett’s classroom for the 8th graders and their Mass guests, ending at 9:30 am. Then the students will resume their normal schedule for the rest of the day.  This will be their final day of classes.

Thursday evening, the decorating committee will be meeting to decorate Kemp Hall for the reception the following day.

On Friday, May 31st:

The 8th graders are not required to attend classes; however, the students are welcome to come to school to assist with end-of-year cleaning and closing procedures around the building.  If your 8th grader is available to help, please contact the school office so we can make sure they receive a lunch!

8th graders should report to Miss Bett’s classroom Friday night by 6:30pm for graduation.  The ceremony begins in the church at 7:00 pm.  Please familiarize yourself and all graduation guests with our church graduation protocols here:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ERnaK58Lw_vti4w6d8n94qiH6hwv8SgblUaRubOrvgA/edit?usp=drive_link  before the night of graduation.  Each family will have one pew reserved for them in the church for the ceremony – pews fit about 10 people on average.  Additional seating behind the family pews is available on a first-come, “first-sat” basis.  During the graduation ceremony, Savannah P. will deliver a greeting, and Maliah J. will proclaim the reading chosen by the graduation class.  Sami H. and Hallie H. will sing the Psalm, and Jon M. will read the Litany of Thanks that was written by Niya W.  Lena R. will deliver the graduation address, and awards will be given out and diplomas conferred.

There will be a professional photographer at the graduation ceremony, and information about accessing those pictures will be available at the reception after the ceremony.  The photographer will take class photos in the church after the ceremony, and then we will move to Kemp Hall for a reception.  (8th graders/guardians may take their banners from the church at this time)

At the reception, each graduate will have a reserved table for their family that sits 8 people, and there will be additional seating available.  Guests will be served cake and water, and the graduation video will be shown.  Instructions for how to access the video for anyone who wishes to see/save it will be available at the reception.  Students are welcome to keep their banners and name plates from their tables at the end of the reception.
