We keep a small group of 15-16 players. We have two teams, A and B, where girls may play on one or both teams during the season. The A team is the more competitive game that counts towards our district standings and will play best 2 out of 3 to 25 and 15. B team is a more developmental team, mostly comprised of 6th and 7th graders to build skills. The B team will play one set to 25 points
There will be a list posted on the Tryout Information page on by 9PM. A list will also be posted outside the gym on .
We will have a parents information meeting in the HHPMS gym on Friday, August 21 at 5:30PM to go over expectations, answer questions, discuss the season, and share our spirit wear order forms.
YES! Stafford Parks and Rec, i9 Sports, FJVC, JKSports, 108 Beach Volleyball, and 540 Volleyball Academy all offer camps and clinics for all skill levels throughout the year.
In terms of competitive club options, 540 Volleyball Academy is the largest (closest) local competitive club, but other options include 108 Beach, JKSports, Metro, Paramount, No Panic, Richmond Volleyball, and others are within an hours drive. Both CJ and Sarah have coached at the club level and are happy to discuss!
Unfortunately they may not. Coaches recognize that men's volleyball is quickly growing, but Stafford County does not have a volleyball program for them. We suggest looking at 540 Volleyball academy for boy's programs.
That is up to your family. Coach Sarah has found that basketball shoes provide better ankle support and floor traction over the volleyball specific shoes and many volleyball players will agree with this. If your child plans to make volleyball their sport, it is likely you will be investing in some court shoes - if they are simply trying something new, a good athletic shoe meant for gym floors will do just fine!
As educators, volleyball coaches put heavy emphasis on academic success for our athletes. We check students grades constantly and are open and honest that if a student doesn't perform in the classroom then they should not be focused on the court. We ask that students maintain a C or better in all courses during the season, look at Quarter 4 grades (for 7th and 8th graders) from the previous year to determine academic eligibility during tryouts, and work with our student atheletes to ensure they are focused n and off the court.
Secondly, we hold high conduct standards for the young women we work with as they are representatives of their peers, school, and community as student athletes.
