Recalling words from memory can be difficult for students with learning disabilities, especially under time restraints during classroom activities or tests. By providing word banks, we are able to focus the student's attention and alleviate the struggle on working memory to demonstrate their knowledge by recognizing the words and using them appropriately.
When working on Writing assignments, provide Word Banks with key words/ideas from the student for them to reference as they use those words to create full sentences and written pieces.
