Hello!

Hello! My name is Monita Ma and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year. I am a proud alumni from California State University East Bay. I graduated in 2008 with my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and Teaching Credential. Then I continued my education and earned my Masters of Science in Curriculum in 2010. I believe learning is never-ending and I always want to learn more.

This school year will be my 16th year teaching. I have taught first grade, second grade, and spent most of my teaching career in third grade.

Fall is my favorite time of year. School is starting and that means it's time for back-to-school shopping! There's something so exciting about getting ready for a fresh school year. I look forward to it every year. Fall is also the beginning of pumpkin season and that means Pumpkin Spice Lattes are coming back! Yum! I love how the weather gets cooler and the air is crisper. Time to bring back the warm sweaters and get cozy with a hot drink and a good book.

Interests and Hobbies

I'm sure it's not a secret that one of my biggest interests is Disney! I am a huge Disney fan and will find a reason to wear Mickey ears whenever I can. I am a big advocate of keeping active through exercise. I try to be active at least 5-7 times a week so you can find me at the gym or out running most days after school. To be honest, I exercise because I just love eating all the yummy snacks. Especially if the snacks are Mickey-shaped and from Disney parks.

When I'm not out soaking in Disney magic or exercising, I like to do a lot of crafting and art. Drawing is one of my favorite self-care activities. I recently started sketching Disney characters and then getting them to autograph my artwork when I visit the parks. It's so much fun! Most of my crafts outside of drawing are creating personalized classroom items and creating projects that my friends and family want for various occasions.

Classroom Wishlist

As we journey through this school year together please don't feel the need to ever get me any gifts. If students want to do gifts during holidays, I like handmade cards and artwork that I can display. If you feel inclined to get me anything, I have an Amazon classroom wishlist and a classroom library wishlist created for items and supplies that would be useful in the classroom. Items for the classroom will benefit my students this year and future years. Again, please don't feel the need to get me anything during holidays. Your trust and support with your child's education is enough.
