The Basics

Hi! My Name is Ms. Deja Escalera! I am 39 years young! I live in San Leandro with my partner Andrew & our cats. I enjoy traveling & being with friends and family. I will be your child’s teacher for the 2020-2021 school year! This will be my 13th year teaching & my 10th year at Lorenzo Manor Elementary & I am excited to make this my best year yet!

My Childhood

I grew up in Hemet, California where I attended Little Lake Elementary school for grades 4-6. I attended both Acacia Middle & Dartmouth Middle school for grades 7 & 8. I then went on to Hemet High school and graduated in 1999.

My Education

I am what you call a Lifelong Learner; I have always loved school and learning! In June of 2006, I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University Hayward. I earned my Multiple Subject teaching credential from Saint Mary's College of California in May 2008. In May 2018, I graduated with honors from Saint Mary’s College of California with a Master of Arts in Teaching.

My Hobbies

When I am not in the classroom you can find me at the gym! I am probably happiest after an Orangetheory workout with my Sweat Sisters. There is something about getting stronger everyday that makes my day better. When I walk out of an Orangetheory class, I know that I have challenged myself physically and mentally and this helps me be a better educator.
