Meet Our 2022-2023 Corvallis Counseling Team!

Erika Vesper- School Counselor

Hello Corvallis Families,

My name is Erika Vesper, I am the School Counselor and 504 coordinator at Corvallis Middle School. This is my 15th year working for Norwalk La Mirada Unified District and my third year at Corvallis. I am looking forward to another great year! I am always available to provide support to our students and families. Please do not hesitate to reach out!

When I am not working, I love to watch my kids play soccer and softball, go for walks and spend time with friends and family.

Alexis Mendoza- Intervention Counselor

Hi Bulldog Families,

My name is Alexis Mendoza, I am the Intervention Counselor and CAPSS coordinator at Corvallis Middle School. I have been working in education for 7 years. This is my 3rd year working for Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District. I am excited for this new school year to get the chance to work closely with our students and their families to support student's academic, college/career, and social/emotional development.

When i'm not working, I love to watch Dodger games, exercise, or spend time with family and friends!

Daisy Hernandez- Wellness Specialist

Hi Corvallis Families,

My name is Daisy Hernandez. I am the Wellness Specialist at Corvallis Middle School. This is the start of my first year working for Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District. I worked for three years at Hillsides Wrap Around Program in the Intensive Services division. I am on campus on Wednesdays and Fridays in the Wellness Center (room 502). I am excited to work with the students and their families to ensure student success.

On my free time I am an avid reader. I am currently reading, “The Last Anniversary” by Liane Moriarty, I love to draw and paint in acrylic, and I love DISNEYLAND!

Sita Hayes- School Psychologist

Hi Corvallis Families,

My name is Sita Hayes, I am the School Psychologist at Corvallis Middle School. This is my second school year at Corvallis and the Norwalk La Mirada School District. I am at the Corvallis campus on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I am excited for another amazing school year, and I am happy to be here to support our students and families!

When I am not working, I love to spend time with my kids and family, going to the beach, being outdoors, and exercising.

Patricia De Leon- GEAR UP Student Success Coach

Hello Corvallis!

My name is Patricia De Leon and I am the GEAR UP Student Success Coach. I have been working in education for the past 2 years as a high school college advisor under Cal-SOAP and USC College Advising Corps, serving Whittier Union High School District and Long Beach Unified School District. This is my first year working with CSU Long Beach’s GEAR UP Program, and I am very excited to be serving the students here at Corvallis! You can find me on campus Monday-Friday in room 505.

Outside of work I love being active such as going roller skating and playing badminton, as well as spending quality time with my family and friends.

Raelyn Guerrero- Loyola Marymount Counseling Intern

Hello,

I am a counseling student at Loyola Marymount University. I love reading, running, and playing video games. Before graduate school, I obtained my bachelors degree in English at UC Irvine. I also intern at Norwalk High School and El Camino College. I am excited to meet everyone and happy to answer any questions.

Hello,

My name is Isabel Villalpando, I am a first-generation Latina graduate student at Cal State University Long Beach. I was raised in Carson, CA in a Mexican family household and enjoy spending quality time with my loved ones. During my free time I enjoy watching sunsets, going out for walks, painting, exploring new places, dancing, and singing to my favorite songs. I am very excited to be a school counseling intern at Corvallis Middle School. I look forward to meeting everyone on the team and happy to provide support to all students!

Karin Huft- CSULB Counseling Intern

My name is Karina Huft. I am originally from San Francisco and am currently studying to receive my masters in school counseling at Cal State University Long Beach. I love all forms of creative expression, spending time in nature, and meeting new people!
