Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other committees where students research and debate topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more.
Our school will be assigned a country and each students serves as its ambassador for the duration of the event. You will be expected to have researched your country's real position on the issues your committee is set to discuss, write a brief paper on those positions, and be prepared to participate in committee discussions with other countries to enact solutions to the world's many problems.
Please contact the club sponsor/ faculty advisor directly to get signed up and connected to this club.
2. What are the club member requirements/ expectations?
Attend our group's meetings;
Participate least one Model UN conference;
Turn in fees for the conferences you choose to attend before the deadline;
Properly prepare for your conference.
Have fun! Students really enjoy the conferences.
3. Is there a fee or cost to participate in this club? If so, what is the amount and what does it cover?
There is no fee to join. There are costs associated with participation at Model UN conferences held at different universities. Those costs include registration, hotel, and food. Amounts will be determined as we get closer to events in the spring. Students will have a fundraising opportunity to offset costs.
In years past, we have attended events at IU, Chicago, and Earlham College. COVID restrictions may alter or limit some of those options this year, so specific event information will be made available as we get it. Our goal is to have a presence at multiple events this year, and students can choose to attend one or more events as they wish.
