What's Happening in 4th Grade?

This page will be used to communicate news and announcements. This is where we'll post reminders about things like field trips and holiday celebrations. We'll also share what we're learning about in our classes.
Please note this site is NOT for homework or test announcements. All homework and upcoming tests will be posted in FACTS under the homework icon. Students will also write homework and test dates in their agendas. This site will serve as a way to keep you updated on what we're learning. You will see a spot for each subject area below. Again, no homework will be posted here, but we want families to see what we're doing in class and share all the great things students are doing at school!
We will also share any pictures on the Fun in Fourth Pictures tab as we do fun projects in class.

Math

Multiplication is the next unit, and we'll be learning about multiplication until Thanksgiving break. It's a big part of 4th-grade math! We'll start by learning about multiplicative comparisons and then learn how to multiply one digit by two-, three-, and four-digit numbers. We'll end with learning 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication. The more students practice their multiplication facts, the better!

Mansfield Christian is implementing a new digital Math platform called Zearn for grades 4-6. Students will be assigned lessons each week. The expectation is that students log in for 45 minutes throughout the week. This can be done during class when there's extra time, during Flames time, or at home. I will see a detailed report each week of how long students spent on the lessons and what was completed. Students will receive a participation grade each week for logging in for the required time.

Science

We are continuing to learn about God's gift of energy and the many forms and ways to use energy!

Social Studies

This week we will be starting our brand new unit on the events leading up to the Revolutionary War! We will start by focusing on the 13 colonies, and how they begin to develop a common identity that will lead to a desire for independence.

We will also have our big fourth grade vote on Tuesday!!!

Bible

Our next unit is about the conversion of Saul. We'll learn about the character trait of boldness.
