October
This month, our focus on healthy choices continues with Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign dedicated to drug-prevention awareness.
From October 23–31, SRE will join schools across the country in celebrating with fun, themed spirit days that promote making positive choices and showing school pride!
You can check out our campus theme days on the flyer below and learn more about the LISD campaign on our S’more page and the national initiative at RedRibbon.org.
The Ask-an-Expert video series aims to help the community continue crucial conversations with students at home. Counselors and other experts share their expertise, touching on some of the most important issues our children face today.
Talk, listen, and keep the conversation going. #askLISD

¡Hola! I'm Mrs. Villanueva, and I'm so excited to be supporting our youngest learners as their school counselor!
I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Panama City, Panama, and later moved to Texas where I completed my education. I earned my degrees from the University of North Texas in Legal Management, International Business, and Sociology. Later, I followed my passion for student support and earned my Master of Education in School Counseling from Lamar University.
With 19 years in education, my mission is to help every child feel safe, seen, and supported. I’m here to guide their social and emotional development, help them build positive relationships, and ensure their well-being is a priority every single day.
Whether it's learning how to be a good friend, managing big feelings, or just needing someone to talk to — I’m here to help!
Let’s make this school year full of growth, kindness, and fun!

Hi! I’m Ms. Boyd, and I’m one of the school counselors here at Southridge Elementary! I was born and raised in Tyler, Texas and spent the past 10 years in San Antonio, where I worked as both an elementary teacher and a school counselor. I recently moved back to North Texas to be closer to family, and I’m grateful to now call this community home again. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Education from UT Arlington, master’s in Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a master’s in Counseling from Angelo State University. Outside of school, this is my seventh year as an Air Force Reservist and I love traveling around the world whenever I get the chance. I’m looking forward to an incredible year of learning, connection, & growth with our Rockets! 🚀
This year marks an exciting new chapter as we come together as one Southridge community. Whether you’re returning, transferring from another campus, or brand new to our school—we’re so glad you’re here!
As counselors, we are excited to support every student, family, and staff member as we begin this journey together. With fresh energy, shared goals, and a strong sense of connection, we know this year will be one of growth and success.
Here’s to a fantastic year ahead—we’re ready to learn, grow, and thrive alongside you!
