How do students get into Sports Medicine I & II?
Before the fall semester of either a student's freshman or sophomore year, they will fill out the application form listed on our "About Us" page. If the student is enrolled into Sports Medicine I, they will go through an "try-out process" to be invited to Sports Medicine II by the Athletic Training Staff. In Sports Medicine I, we look for students who go above and beyond both in the classroom and while working the sideline of freshmen football games. As the semester progresses ,the staff takes note of the students who show a true passion and drive for the athletic training program and extend interviews to those who exude characteristics of a good student athletic trainer. After the interview process the staff selects students to be invited into Sports Medicine II. Once students accept an invitation to Sports Medicine II, they will be taught the skills required to be a student athletic trainer such as taping & first aid . They will be provided with opportunities to work with a variety of sports throughout the spring semester including basketball, soccer, wrestling, softball, and baseball.
