Now it is time to learn more about elective classes offered at Killian MS. Students must take at least 1 year of a performing fine arts course in middle school (Band, Choir, Orchestra, or Theater). If you already took this class in 6th grade, you are not required to take it in 7th or 8th. However, it is recommended and encouraged that you continue in our outstanding Band, Choir, Orchestra, or Theater programs.
Follow these steps to select your elective courses:
Review information and choices below. Refer to the course description guide for detailed information. Visit the websites of programs that you might be interested in. Ask questions and do research to see what is best.
Rank the electives from 1 to 4 with 1 being your first choice- the class that interests you the most. You will only get three electives in your schedule, but we have you select four just in case a class does not work out for you.
You will need this ranking when you fill out the forms in the next step.

Students will participate collaboratively in learning activities to acquire knowledge and skills in effective communication, goal setting, healthy living, child development, family, community, and personal care services. INTRODUCTION TO CULINARY ARTS (HS Credit)- 8th Grade Only
This course Arts will emphasize the principles of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling the management of a variety of food service operations. The course will provide insight into the operation of a well-run restaurant. Introduction to Culinary Arts will provide insight into food production skills, various levels of industry management, and hospitality skills. This is an entry level course for students interested in pursuing a career in the food service industry. This course is offered as a classroom and laboratory-based course.
