Meet our AVLS Aide

My name is Jessica Steele. This is my first year with LISD, and I am so excited to be a part of the Hicks family! Before coming to Hicks, I worked as a preschool teacher for 2 years--and I had so much fun! I am currently working on my Teacher Certification with a Masters in Education. My background is in Physics, as my original plan was to join the Nuclear Engineering program for the Navy after my commission. Unfortunately, due to health concerns I could not longer live out that "dream" and was honorably discharged. Shortly after that I met my husband and stayed home with my two young children, Joe and Maya; now 7 and 4. They are currently attending schools in the district.

I also work part-time as a Certified Personal Trainer for an outdoor boot camp program, I truly love helping people reach their full potential! For fun I love to drive all over the DFW area to try any and all kinds of desserts. If you name the place, I have probably had it or its on my lists of things to try.

I strongly believe that every child is special in their own way, and it is our job as educators to understand them and nurture them in a way that helps them be the best version of themselves. I appreciate this opportunity and am excited to work with the students and their families!
