Second Step is a holistic approach to building supportive communities for every child through social-emotional learning.
The elementary years are the ideal time to nurture social-emotional competence and develop foundational learning skills. Second Step offers an evidence-based approach to social-emotional learning (SEL), with age-appropriate lessons.
Decades of research show the positive effects of universal, classroom-based SEL programs for children. There’s also broad recognition that benefits are even greater when children experience SEL throughout their day, across home, school, and out-of-school time environments, and throughout developmental stages. When implemented holistically, with a coordinated, community-wide approach, SEL can build stronger communities and support inclusive, equitable learning.
We’re excited to bring you a new addition to our Second Step Elementary offering, one designed to meet the needs of today’s school communities: the Second Step Elementary digital program. The program is a web-based social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum that allows for consistency from classroom to classroom.
