Mr. Stephens, a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington (B.M.) and the University of North Texas (M.M.) has been teaching public school band since 2001. Mr. Stephens spent his first 5 years of band directing in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD at Central Jr. High School. While at Central, Mr. Stephens conducted the Concert Band and assisted with the Symphonic Band. The Central Jr. High Symphonic Band performed at the 2006 Texas Music Educator's Association convention in San Antonio as the 2005 BBB Honor Band for the state of Texas. Since coming to Huffines in 2006, Mr. Stephens has directed the Wind Symphony, which is a consistent sweepstakes winner at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. The Wind Symphony has also won numerous Best in Class and Most Outstanding Band awards at various invitational festivals. Mr. Stephens was the 2021 Huffines Middle School Teacher of the Year and a finalist for the 2021 Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year.
Mr. Stephens has been happily married to his wife Trina, a 5th grade teacher in Denton ISD, for over 23 years. Together they have 3 daughters, Hannah, Reagan, and Reese. Mr. Stephens is also an active member in his church, RockPointe Church in Flower Mound. In his free time, Mr. Stephens enjoys boating, fishing, and watching sports. He is an avid fan of the Texas Rangers (Go Rangers!), New Orleans Saints (Who Dat?), and the Texas Longhorns (Hook'Em!).
Ms. Binoya has been teaching at Huffines Middle School since 2022. She is excited to join the staff at HFMS and be part of the Lewisville Band team. Her teaching responsibilities include directing Symphonic Band, assisting the Wind Symphony, and teaching the beginning Flute, Double Reed, Clarinet, and Saxophone classes.
Prior to her appointment at Huffines, Ms. Binoya graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Music Education, magna cum laude. During her time at Baylor, Ms. Binoya performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band. She also served as section leader and office manager of the Golden Wave Band and Courtside Players. Near the end of her degree, Ms. Binoya student taught at both Huffines Middle School and Lewisville High School (Go Huskies and Go Farmers!).
Ms. Binoya grew up in Round Rock, Texas, where she was a part of the Cedar Ridge Raider Band. Ms. Binoya resides in Carrollton, where she spends her time creating art, serving as a Media Director for a non-profit, Through the Staff, and spending with her friends.
Koby Chiou currently serves as the Director of Percussion Studies at Lewisville High School, in Lewisville, Texas. Prior to working with the Lewisville Band, Mr. Chiou taught at Juan Seguin High School in Arlington, TX.
Mr. Chiou is originally from Houston, TX where he went to school in Spring Branch ISD graduating from Stratford HS. He then went to Baylor University where he received a degree in Music Education. During his time at Baylor, he performed with the Baylor Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and served as the Drumline Section Leader for the Golden Wave Band. At Baylor, Mr. Chiou studied with Dr. Todd Meehan, Dr. Ed J Taylor, Mr. Arlo Schultis, Mr. Scott Taylor and Mr. Chris Sies.
In addition to his Baylor Education, Mr. Chiou also has a background in the highest level of the marching arts. He has experience in both World Class Drum Corps and Indoor Percussion Groups, most recently Monarch Independent.
