DECEMBER 15: The M9 counselors will be in 8th grade ELA classes to go over the 4-Year Plan for high school. They will cover requirements for graduation, credits, and help students create a 4-Year Plan.
We will begin registration and course selection presentations in January when we return from winter break. The December CCMR Future Pathways Newsletter linked below is a great resource as your student prepares for requesting courses for next year.
Students will take a journey to explore their future through our College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) lessons. In 6th grade, students learn about career clusters—groups of jobs that share similar skills and interests, like Health Science, Arts, STEM, and Business. In 7th grade, your child is making important connections between school subjects and future careers. They reviewed career clusters and explored how interests in subjects like math, science, and art can lead to various jobs. In 8th grade, your child is taking an important step in planning their high school journey through the Personal Graduation Plan (PGP). They learn about Texas graduation requirements, including earning credits in core subjects and selecting an endorsement—a focus area such as Arts, Business, Health, or Technology—to tailor their coursework.
You can find your student’s evolving PGP in Skyward Family Access.
