Step 2
Now it is time to learn more about the elective classes offered at ACMS!
ALL 6th grade students must select a Performing Arts Course: Band, Choir, Orchestra or Theatre. These courses are marked with an asterisk (*) below. This will not be a requirement in 7th or 8th grade, and there will be more options electives in those grades.
ALL 6th grade students will be enrolled in a Strategies for Success course, or as we like to call it: Eagle 101. This class has already been added to each student's course selections in Skyward. More information about Eagle 101 can be found below.
Select courses based on your child's interests, not because a friend is taking the class. Most likely, students will not end up in the same class period as their friends.
STEPS FOR SELECTING YOUR ELECTIVE COURSES:
Review the courses listed below. Visit the website of programs you might be interested in. Ask your child what courses they were attracted to during their visit to ACMS. Ask questions to the teachers at 5th Grade Parent Night.
Select your child's Performing Arts elective: Band, Choir, Orchestra or Theatre. You will enter your selection in Step 3.
Select 3 other elective choices your child is interested in. Students will have 2 elective classes, but we ask for 4 choices in case one of their choices won't work in their schedules.
Rank your child's elective choices from 1 to 4 with 1 being your first choice - the class your child is most interested in. You will rank your elective choices in Step 3.
