3rd Grade Weekly Update
Thank you all for coming for 3rd grade orientation on Tuesday evening, it was so good to see everyone. Your students are truly doing an exceptional job stepping up to third grade. We are all so proud of the way they listen and work hard. Remember we are going out each morning, so make sure your child brings a water bottle each day. Also be sure to send them with a healthy snack to help fuel their brains.
This week in reading we will begin using our reading resources to practice retelling the story using paraphrasing. We will also be taking our beginning of the year (BOY) iReady assessment.
In writing we will begin our first writing for the year which is a narrative. They will write a story about a surprising event. Help them by discussing a time they were surprised by something that happened. It could be a surprise vacation, a grandparent surprising them for lunch at school, or getting a goal in soccer.
We will make a map of Texas in social studies and create all of our map elements on our map.
In math we will continue working on multiplication. This week you will be seeing more homework and multiplication fact practice. The homework will typically be sent home on Mondays and then returened the next Monday. Each day will follow along with what we are learning in class. They will also be assigned a multiplicaion fact to start learning. So practice, practice, practice!!
Science will continue studying solids, liquids, and gases, and measuring their physical properties.
