The Hudson County Gifted and Talented Consortium meets on a monthly basis with the Meadowlands Environment Center to collaborate and tailor programming for our students. As a consortium, we plan convocations, academic events, and tailor curriculum for our high potential students. Our convocations and academic events are developed to motivate and challenge our unique population. Our consortium is requesting that Gifted and Talented convocations and county wide academic competitions not be categorized as traditional field trips. These opportunities require pre and post lesson planning and are conducted in off site classrooms where students have the opportunity to thrive in a hands-on environment where they delve deeply into the relevant and rigorous content.

During the "ENVIRONMENT THROUGH THE ARTISTS’ EYES" convocation, the students are greeted at the Newark Museum by educators from The Meadowlands Environment Center. The students are divided into four groups and escorted to specific galleries where technical terms used within the art realm are brought to life. A vivid introduction to various styles of art from different time periods will be presented by the educators. Our fourth grade students have an opportunity to sophisticatedly observe, critique, and admire works of art in a variety of galleries with other students within Hudson County.
