Class overview
Academic Seminar is a supportive study skills class designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in high school and prepare for life after graduation. This class provides students with a structured environment where they can stay organized, complete schoolwork, monitor their progress, and work toward their individual IEP goals.
Throughout the semester, students will learn and practice skills such as time management, organization, planning, goal setting, self-advocacy, study strategies, and effective use of accommodations. Students will also have dedicated time to work on assignments from their core classes and receive support when they encounter academic challenges.
About me
I’m excited to be joining GTCHS! I have over 26 years of experience in education and have worked with students at every grade level. I’ve called South Carolina home for the past 20 years. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Anderson University.
At GTCHS, I serve as the Special Education Coordinator and work closely with our upperclassmen to support their success.
