The self-study process gives us an opportunity to reflect on what we do and ensures that we regularly assess and document the effectiveness of our work. Each working group is responsible for gathering the evidence that shows how we meet the criteria for their standard, identifying any gaps in evidence that we have, and ultimately writing a report that addresses the standard. Self-study demonstrates an institution’s commitment to continuous improvement and is used to strengthen and sustain the institution.
In addition, we should be prepared to:
Engage in a careful analysis of institutional priorities selected in the interest of identifying mission-related areas of improvement
Respond actively to challenges
Identify and adopt innovative practices to achieve the institutional mission
Adapt to changes in the higher education sector
Best serve students and society more readily
