Kanglang Elementary School has entered the second year of its Ministry of Education Sister School Program.
In addition to several online exchange activities, our sixth-grade students created a video themed around their graduation trip to share with a partner school in Israel. By presenting their experiences through a student-centered video, we not only shared moments from our school life but also overcame the challenge of time zone differences in international exchanges.
It is worth mentioning that for the background music of these videos, our fifth- and sixth-grade students practiced for nearly an entire year. They learned the English lyrics word by word and rehearsed each line with great dedication and effort.
We invite everyone to enjoy the medley that combines the English song “Children of the World” with two local Taiwanese folk songs, “Tiam-á-ka” and “Se-pak-hōo”.
Today was a very special day for Class 602 of Kanglang Elementary School.
We participated in an online international exchange activity with a school in Israel. The theme of the event was “Endangered Animals.” Through this activity, we had the opportunity to introduce our friends in Israel to some of Taiwan’s unique and precious animals, including the Formosan Black Bear, Grass Owl, Leopard Cat, and Taiwan Pangolin. Using simple English and pictures, we explained their characteristics, habitats, and the reasons why they are endangered.
The students from Israel were also very well-prepared. They introduced several endangered animals being protected in their country, such as the Striped Hyena, Lesser Kestrel, Griffon Vulture, Arabian Oryx, and Sea Turtle. Many of these animals were new to us, and we found them fascinating. Their presentations sparked our curiosity about wildlife and nature conservation.
Through this online exchange, we not only learned many new English words and expressions, but more importantly, we realized that protecting endangered animals is a shared responsibility for everyone around the world. We are grateful for this meaningful international learning experience and hope to have more opportunities to collaborate and connect with our friends in Israel again in the future!

In addition to several online exchange activities, our fifth graders created two themed videos — one about our school’s sports day and another about our local field exploration — to share with our partner school in India. By using a student-centered video format, we not only showcased our daily school life but also overcame the challenge of time zone differences in international exchanges.

The students of Class 5B at Kang Lang Elementary School participated in their second online cultural exchange with a school in India. This event gave us another wonderful opportunity to learn more about each other’s cultures, and everyone was filled with excitement and anticipation.
During the exchange, the Indian students introduced a variety of local street foods, such as Aloo Tikki, Kachori, Bhelpuri, Samosa, and Gol Gappa—each one sounded absolutely delicious! We also learned about their favorite traditional games, including Kho Kho, Gilli Danda, Kabaddi, and Top, which all seemed fascinating and fun to play.
In addition, we explored Indian festivals and traditions. The colorful Holi Festival, where people celebrate with bright powders, was especially eye-catching. We also learned about Mehndi (beautiful hand art), diya oil lamps used in celebrations, and Rangoli—vibrant designs made with rice flour and colored sand. The Indian currency designs we saw were also full of local character and charm.
One of the happiest moments was our dance performance. As our classmates danced energetically, we could see the Indian students smiling and laughing on the screen, which made us feel both joyful and proud.
Through this exchange, we not only learned about Indian culture but also experienced the true joy of cultural connection. We hope to have more chances in the future to join similar activities and make friends from all around the world.
The students of Class 5A at Kang Lang Elementary School had their second online cultural exchange with ASN Senior Secondary School in India.
During this session, both sides introduced their unique cultural features. Our class was divided into five groups to present different aspects of Taiwan, including snacks, toys, cultural artifacts, currency, and festivals.
The Indian students, in turn, shared about the traditional “Five Stones Game,” the famous blue pottery of Jaipur, and popular street foods such as aloo chaat and kachori.
One of the most memorable moments was when an Indian girl, dressed in traditional attire, gracefully performed an Indian dance, beautifully showcasing her country’s cultural charm.
This activity not only deepened our understanding of Indian culture but also gave us the opportunity to introduce Taiwan to our international friends—a truly enriching and enjoyable learning experience.
The postcards we sent last semester have finally received a reply!
The sixth graders at Kang Lang Elementary School opened the long-awaited letters from Spain with great excitement. Inside, they found neatly written English messages, elegant hand-drawn illustrations, beautifully woven friendship bracelets, and even some Spanish candies—what delightful surprises!
Although the letters were filled with English words that were not easy to understand, the students didn’t give up. Instead, they eagerly discussed, helped one another, and worked together to figure out the meanings.
Through this cross-cultural exchange, the children not only experienced the richness of different cultures but also discovered the joy of learning languages and the power of teamwork.
Class 6B at Kang Lang Elementary School received a cultural exchange box from Israel!
Inside the box was a jar of olives—salty and slightly sour in taste. We tried a little, and the flavor was truly unique! There was also a bag of Bamba, a popular Israeli corn snack with a rich peanut flavor, and a classic board game, Snakes and Ladders, which Israeli friends often play to strengthen their friendships.
The most special items in the box were the cups representing Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath. Shabbat is an important religious tradition in Israeli culture, and the cup symbolizes the blessings and togetherness of this sacred day.
These wonderful gifts from Israel helped us gain a deeper understanding of the country’s culture and traditions.

During the activity, Kang Lang students introduced various features of Taiwan, including traditional snacks, folk toys, cultural items, and the different denominations of the New Taiwan Dollar. The Israeli students, in turn, shared their own cultural items under the same themes.
Although we come from different cultural backgrounds, everyone communicated in English, making the exchange smooth and enjoyable.
While the online meeting has ended, the exchange continues—Kang Lang students will send the Taiwanese items they introduced to Israel, and the Israeli students will send their cultural items to Taiwan. We eagerly look forward to receiving the cultural exchange box from Israel—an experience that will surely become a memorable part of our international learning journey.

Students from Kanglang Elementary School in 601 had an online exchange with students from Bet Hinuch Shimon Peres–Rosh HaAyin in Israel. Since it was the first meeting between the two schools, everyone began with a round of self-introductions to break the ice. After that came the highlight of the event — we took turns being little teachers, teaching each other our own languages. We taught them how to say some common daily expressions in Chinese, while the Israeli students showed us how to say everyday phrases in Hebrew. Finally, we wrapped up the exchange by giving a beautiful presentation to introduce our small but charming school, Kanglang Elementary.
After months of preparation, our long-awaited international exchange activity with an elementary school in India finally took place today! Students from both schools greeted each other warmly and took turns introducing themselves. Through interactive conversations, our children had the perfect opportunity to put their English learning into real practice. To get ready for this special day, our students had practiced for weeks—repeating each sentence over and over, carefully refining their pronunciation and expression—just to present their very best to their new friends. The atmosphere during the exchange was filled with excitement and energy; everyone was eager to participate and share. This was more than just an online class—it was a meaningful and authentic cross-cultural experience. Many students said they felt a strong sense of achievement after the session.
