I am collecting 100 audio recordings of stories from immigrant and foreign residents about their experiences seeking medical care in Japan, with a focus on challenges and differing expectations. These recordings will be used to create e-learning materials for Japanese nursing students focusing on improving their English listening ability and their understanding of the linguistic and cultural challenges faced by immigrant and foreign patients.
I am currently looking for English speakers from these first-language backgrounds: Chinese (any dialect): 12, Korean: 10, Vietnamese: 10, Tagalog: 8, Indonesian: 8, Nepali: 6, Brazilian Portuguese: 6, Other: 20 (no more than two from the same country), English: 20 (consideration for gender & regional accents/dialects/variations)
The entire session should take 45-60 minutes. You will be expected to tell your story for about 10 minutes. You will receive a 2000 yen gift card.
I would like to confirm that you meet the participant conditions.
1. you are at least 20 years old
2. you are a foreign-language resident or visitor in Japan
3. your first language is not Japanese
If you meet these conditions, and would like to apply to participate in this study, please move on to STEP 1: a short survey about you and your hospital experience in Japan.
Thank you for your interest in this study and for your consideration.
