Gospel of the Week

Pentecost Sunday

Jesus Talks About the Spirit

The last day of the feast came. It was the most important day. On that day Jesus stood up and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. If a person believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from his heart. This is what the Scripture says.” Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit. The Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus had not yet been raised to glory. But later, those who believed in Jesus would receive the Spirit.

John 7:37-39

Healthy Snacks

and

Free Fridays

We will be launching our healthy snacks and Free Fridays initiative from Monday 5th June.  As of this date the children will only be allowed to bring fruit or vegetables in to school for their snacks on Mondays to Thursdays. On Fridays they can bring in a treat, for example, a bag of crisps or a chocolate bar etc. This is to help highlight to the children that treats are fine to eat in moderation but not as an everyday option.

We will also have a Treat Tuckshop every Friday where children can buy themselves a treat at playtime. Our school council have surveyed the children to find out what they would like to have available to them in this tuckshop.

Safeguarding - Keeping Your Child Safe

What Parents & Carers need to know about

Influencers

Not only is an “influencer” an increasingly powerful role in the digital age, but it’s also become a desirable career goal for many young people – an enjoyable way to gain international fame and a gateway to financial success. A survey of Instagram influencers, for instance, found that those with over a million followers make an average of £12,000 per month.

Much of this wealth, of course, is unlocked by entering into partnerships with various brands – which then raises all manner of questions about some influencers’ authenticity. Is their praise for certain products genuine, or simply because they’ve been paid for their endorsement? This week’s guide peels back the filters for a closer look at influencers.

Safeguarding Factsheets

Loot boxes and skins betting

Loot boxes: a feature of online games where players pay to get unknown rewards, like items or modifications for their character. It’s similar to gambling, because most of the time you don’t know what you’re going to get before you pay.

Skins betting: where people use ‘skins’ as betting currency (‘skins’ are extra items in online games that e.g. upgrade a weapon or character into a better one).

Please click here to read the Factsheet provided by 'The Key > Safeguarding'.

Clever Never Goes

CLEVER NEVER GOES has been developed to replace the out-dated ‘stranger danger’ approach.

Whilst child abduction is relatively uncommon, it’s important that children can recognise the potential signs of danger. Teaching children simply to avoid strangers doesn’t work. Most strangers will help rather than harm children. Conversely, it is often people known to children that pose the greatest threat.

Clever Never Goes moves the focus away from strangers and instead teaches children to recognise when someone (anyone) is asking them to go with them. We call this ‘Go Spotting’. In doing so, the programme aims to give children practical safety skills which they can use as they get older and become more independent.

It’s about safety – but it’s also about building children’s abilities to engage with the outside world, and giving parents the confidence to let them.

Alleluia, Alleluia, Give Thanks to the Risen Lord.

Please click the Slide to expand it and then the speaker symbol to play the backing track.

Alleluia, alleluia, give thanks to the risen Lord

The children are now choosing from the new Summer menus.

Please click the buttons below to see the Summer Term menus.

School Bags

Some of our classrooms are a little tight for space, so please use the school issue school bag wherever possible, as back packs are simply to big to be stored neatly and safely.

The children do not need to bring very much to school and these bags are more than roomy enough for all their things.

This Week's Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you that you have sent us the power of the Holy Spirit.

Please fill us up each day with the Holy Spirit that we would have the power to live for Jesus and let his light shine in our lives.

In Jesus' name we pray.

Amen.

God Bless You,

Mrs Brosnan

Head Teacher
