Gospel of the Week

The Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C

Mary and Martha

While Jesus and his followers were travelling, Jesus went into a town. A woman named Martha let Jesus stay at her house. Martha had a sister named Mary. Mary was sitting at Jesus’ feet and listening to him teach. Martha became angry because she had so much work to do. She went in and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work? Tell her to help me!”

But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are getting worried and upset about too many things. Only one thing is important. Mary has chosen the right thing, and it will never be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:38-42

Dusty the Deputy

We are delighted to introduce our new 'Deputy', Dusty. He is our newest member of staff and will be coming in to school every day, after the summer break, and will spend his evenings with Mrs Whitehorn.

He has already been to the classes to visit the children and it seems he may well be the most popular member of staff already!

It's the end of the school year!

We hope you all have a fantastic summer break and we look forward to seeing the children on:

Children's Commonwealth Choir

The children have been very busy in the last two week's of term!

On Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th July the children attended the prestigious Military Musical Spectacular at Horse Guards Parade in central London. They performed 'A song for the Commonwealth' in front of a very large crowd of spectators and Prince Michael of Kent. They even featured on the 'Big Screen' and were given a standing ovation by the London Choral Society who were also performing at the show. They also met an officer from the Irish Guards who spent a lot of time chatting to them.

On Thursday 14th July the children attended an event at the Guildhall in the City of London to celebrate the queen's Platinum Jubilee, which had guests including the Sheriff of London, Stephen Twigg MP and Lieutenant Colonel Simon Haw, who some of our older children may remember from working with the Coldstream Guards in the past.

As always the children behaved impeccably and were a credit to themselves, their parents/carers and the school.

This week the question is: "Should there be more rules for trampolines?"

The Great Get Together

The Great Get Together is taking place on Saturday 23rd July at the Olympic Park. Our Year 3 & 4 children have been practising with the BBC Singers for this event. It would be fantastic if you could take them along to join in. Everyone is welcome to go and enjoy the activities. Click the image for a clearer view.

House Point Winners

Congratulations to St Patrick who just beat St David by only 5 points, to be this week's winners.

It may not be a surprise, as they have won for the last four weeks, as we also announce that St Patrick are this term's champions and also the champions for the whole year, congratulations everyone in St Patrick and well done to all those in the other houses who also won thousands of points between them!

12 Ways to Champion Equality Online

Football thrives on passionate opinions and debates. “Never a penalty!” … “Should've passed it!” … “That’s offside!” Regardless of where their loyalties lie, though, one area where virtually all fans agree is that discrimination based on someone’s religious belief, sexuality, race or gender is simply unacceptable. How can football truly be ‘the beautiful game’ without equality?

Note that we said “virtually all” fans. Unfortunately, the likes of Pernille Harder, Wendie Renard and Vivianne Miedema often have as many online comments about their gender, skin colour or LGBTQ+ status as their footballing finesse. Our guide has some top tips for spreading positivity, not prejudice, during this summer’s Euro Championships.

This Week's Prayer

Dear Jesus, help us to remember that You are the most important thing in our lives. Don't let us get so busy with other things that we forget to spend time with You. Amen.

God Bless You,

Mrs Brosnan
